Andders (Sander Jansen)

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Introducing our latest discovery: painter Andders (real name Sander Jansen)! With his clean-cut approach, apparent uncomplicated style and his use of a wide variety of materials, Andders, who just recently became a full-time artist, is gaining popularity fast.

“Mountain high and valley low would describe my personality perfectly. About ten years ago I was still very much stuck in the dark caverns of my negative, demeaning and often very destructive thoughts about myself. Fortunately, the tide has changed, and those thoughts no longer bother me. Painting is and has been a great lifeline!

All around me I see people having to deal with their own demons and struggles. And it is this theme that is the biggest inspiration for my art. I paint out of gratitude but also out of wishing and hoping for Light in the lives of my fellowmen. In addition, I get my inspiration regarding use of color and structure from the world of fashion and architecture.

My artworks often take shape on their own. I place my brush on the linen and I only stop when I feel that the work is finished. My background in working with concrete and concrete-look materials gives me a good basis in finding balance in color, composition, and esthetics. I still enjoy using a lot of the materials that I worked with before.”
